A Big Dose of Common Sense Senate Reform from CO Junior Senator

with one comment

Sometimes it takes an outsider to see the problems with an institution and to provide solutions. Sometimes it takes someone who is used to negotiating and solving problems to offer solutions that make sense. The junior senator from Colorado, Michael Bennet, has done that…and by and large, I suspect most Americans will agree with at least 90% of what he proposes.

These reform proposals along with those of the Sunlight Foundation might actually make Congress more accountable to the voters rather than beholden to special interests as well as force the Senate to do the business they were hired to do. The U.S. has serious challenges it must face, but none of these challenges can be solved if Congress continues to kick the can down the road because no Congressional member has the bravery to step up to the plate and risk offending a large donor or risk losing a special interest group.
