Unconfirmed Iranian election results
According to the National Iranian American Council bog, niacINsight, Mousavi won the election by almost a 2 to 1 margin. Here are the results posted on naicINsight.
Mousavi – 21.3 million (57.2%)
Ahmadinejad – 10.5 million (28%)
Rezai – 2.7 million (7.2%)
Karroubi – 2.2 million (6%)
niacINsight is careful to state that the results are unconfirmed and come from a supporter of Mousavi. However, the report also quotes a source who stated how the grovernment planned to rig the election in favor of Ahmedinejad. In addition, it appears that at the very least Ahmedi tried to buy the election though handouts, giveaways, salary raises, and a number of other gifts intended to create a favorable impression amongst the electorate, particularly the poor electorate.
Hey, if you can’t win legitimately, why not buy it? And if you cannot buy it, rig the results. Then, when that doesn’t work, shut down all communications possible and arrest the opposition.
To quote the protesters and opposing clerics: Ahmedi betrayed the Revolution and the Republic of Iran and Islam. As a Saudi blogger stated after listening to Ahmedi’s press conference on CNN, “the guy’s nuts.”
