Using tech to save money

leave a comment »

A week or so ago, I read an article that stated the American medical system, as it currently exists, loses millions of dollars in waste and duplication. That loss, while increasing employment in the medical insurance business, means everyone who pays for medical insurance is paying an extra premium for the waste.

Imagine how much money each insurer could save if medical records were online. Then imagine how many fewer costly mistakes would exist if doctors and hospitals and insurers could access medical information and payments from a simple, comprehensive online information system.

We already have the technology to put medical records online. What we don’t have is the fiscal impetus. That needs to change.

Americans deserve better!
