While I oppose Gov. Sarah Palin on her recorded views and do not believe she is qualified for the position to which she is nominated, I oppose the demeaning comments I’ve heard, both in the media and on blogs. It is acceptable to question her capabilities. It is acceptable to question her experience as a governor, as a possible VP, and as a potential President. It is even acceptable to disagree, even vehemently, with her stated positions. But personal, familial attacks are not acceptable from any quarter.
When a Revolutionary mob stormed King’s College intent on tarring and feathering the Tory [loyally English] College President Myles Cooper, Alexander Hamilton barred the entry door with his person, and said that their conduct, instead of promoting their cause, would “disgrace and injure the glorious cause of liberty.” (1)
