All about ideas…

Just a reminder to Hillary supporters

I’m not an insider with the Obama campaign, so I don’t know their actual reasons for not putting Hillary on the ticket. But I can guess.

For all of the last year, Republicans have been licking their lips and rubbing their hands together, hoping Hillary would win the Democratic nomination. When that failed to occur, they prayed for her to be named VP.

Why? Because they hate Bill Clinton.

They would have crucified her with every sleazy thing they could think of. Publicized every untrue, dirty detail of the Clinton Administration…and made Hillary responsible.

In short, the campaign waged by the Republicans would not have been about Republican failures, it would have been about Bill Clinton and by extension, Hillary. The country would have been side-tracked again by the slimy tactics of Karl Rove.

I hope someday within my lifetime a woman does gain the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. As a feminist, I would shout to the rafters and jump up and down with glee at that accomplishment.

But to be realistic, the Republicans would have ripped Hillary apart…and left the Party in disarray. Plus, Hillary deserves better than to be the means whereby her life and her husband are torn asunder just for Republican political gain.

  1. I think the Republicans feared Hillary would be the nominee, hence the crossover primary votes after McCain secured their nomination. Yes, they could trash her, but in every poll, she was beating McCain. Obama is not. The Democrats could have knocked it out of the park with a Clinton/Obama ticket, but they chose not to, because Democratic party honchos hated Hillary. Why diss the Clintons? I don’t get it, because since FDR there has not been a two-term Democratic president besides Bill. But hey, McCain is going to win. And for once, I am not unhappy. I have voted Dem for 32 years and I won’t vote for McCain, but I can’t vote for Obama who is turning into a neo-con faster than Clark Kent could change into Superman.

  2. I don’t doubt your anger, and you have a right to be upset. However, the campaign against the Republicans would have been far worse than anything her Democratic opponents dished out. Remember what they were calling her early in her run? It’s too vile to write here…but it compares her to a hateful female dog. And that is not the worst of what was said about her…nor would it have been the least.

The Republicans love to hate Hillary and Bill. According to them, Bill can never be forgiven from taking the Presidency from them. So, it’s necessary to hate Hillary by extension.

Nevertheless, we must begin to focus on who is better for the country. Hillary’s views and Obama’s views are very similar. And they would have made a good team. But I for one would not have wanted to see how the Republicans smeared and lied about her. She deserves better.
